What the YKI test measures
For Finnish citizenship you need the intermediate level test (keskitaso) with grade 3 or higher, which equals CEFR level B1. There are four subtests, each graded separately:
👂 ListeningPuhumisen ymmärtäminen - announcements, dialogues, news
📖 ReadingTekstin ymmärtäminen - notices, emails, articles
✍️ WritingKirjoittaminen - messages, opinions, formal notes
🗣️ SpeakingPuhuminen - reacting to situations, giving opinions
For Finnish citizenship, OPH says you need grade 3 or higher in one accepted pair: speaking + writing, listening + writing, or reading + speaking. You still complete all four subtests on the test day.
Note: this app is a study aid, not an official YKI product, and no tool can guarantee a passing grade. Use it alongside the official sample tests and everyday Finnish practice.
